12 WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE…..It's time to talk to your movers. Most movers prefer that you sign your acceptance note at least a month before moving. Once you’ve gotten the preliminary matters settled, it’s time to get organized. Sort through any belongings you have in storage. Also, once you elect your moving company, you need to think about necessary provisions such as pets, cars, etc.

10 WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE….Get rid of any unneeded belongings. Use this as an opportunity to take inventory of your possessions. Keep what you know you’ll use and properly dispose of or donate to charity what you don’t want to take with you.

8 WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE….It’s time to start notifying friends and family. Also, notify your bank, credit cards, magazines and other services that you’ll be moving. Your movers will take care of your belongings, but ensure that you have your family’s important papers (passports, birth/marriage certificates, etc.) in order.

6 WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE….It’s time to arrange for mail forwarding, check your pets’ vaccinations and check on household goods in your new home and whether any need to be replaced.

• Decided whether or not to buy any new household goods - check tax refunds.

4 WEEKS BEFORE THE MOVE….Movers will require an agreement on insurance values and terms. With A&B Movers, you’ll need to finalize all of your paperwork. 1 WEEK BEFORE THE MOVE….It’s time to take care of all those loose ends. Cleaning and preparing yard equipment for the move, defrosting the freezer, packing suitcases, and finalizing prescriptions, are all things that need to be taken care of before the movers arrive at your house.

• Defrosted the refrigerator/freezer
• Planned simple meals for moving day to avoid using appliances.
• Separated luggage items you need for personal travel.
• Cleaned garden tools, bicycles and any other gardening equipment.
• Emptied the tanks of powered tools such as mowers.
• Checked you have enough medication for at least two weeks, and ensure you have copies of any necessary prescriptions for use at destination.
